1.Lean Thinking & Value Stream Foundations
Introduction to Lean principles, the concept of a value stream, value-adding versus non-value-adding activity, the 8 wastes and 3M (muda, mura, muri), and how VSM fits into a continuous improvement and Kaizen culture.
2.Understanding Customer Value & Process Scope
Defining customer value and takt time, using SIPOC to frame process boundaries, mapping process levels and swim lanes, and identifying the product or service family to be mapped.
3.Building the Current-State ('As-Is') Map
Walking the process (gemba), drawing standard VSM symbols and process boxes, capturing material and information flows, and documenting the current-state map for a manufacturing or transactional value stream.
4.VSM Metrics & Data Collection
Measuring cycle time, lead time, changeover, inventory and uptime, calculating First-Time Yield and Rolled Throughput Yield, and using data-collection plans, breakdown structures and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) to validate the map.
5.Analysing the Value Stream
Interpreting the current-state map to expose bottlenecks, waste, excess inventory and long lead times, distinguishing value-added versus total lead time, and prioritising improvement opportunities with Kaizen bursts.
6.Designing the Future-State Map

Value Stream Mapping Training in Sabah & Sarawak
