Microsoft Training Malaysia (2026): Excel, Power BI, Copilot & Microsoft 365

Corporate Microsoft training for Malaysian teams — 14 courses from Excel basics to Power BI, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Azure. In-house, public or live online, HRDF claimable.

Quick Answer

Most Malaysian companies train on Microsoft tools in-house, so the course uses their own data. HRD Corp funds in-house training for 2–50 pax, capped at RM10,500/day/group for a full day or RM6,000/half-day/group for a half day — per group, not per person. Tell us the topic and headcount and we arrange the trainer, including on-site in Sabah and Sarawak.

Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Office Training

Microsoft 365 is what Office 365 became, so “Microsoft Office training” and “Microsoft 365 training” cover the same core applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams. The difference is the cloud layer. A Microsoft 365 course should also cover OneDrive and SharePoint file sharing, co-authoring, version history and — increasingly — Copilot.

The skills gap in most offices is not access to the software, it is using it well. Staff who build reports by copying and pasting between workbooks, email attachments back and forth, or rewrite the same document from scratch each month are the usual starting point for a Microsoft 365 programme. Start with Excel, Teams and OneDrive, then add Microsoft 365 Copilot once the foundations are in place.

In-House, Public or Online Microsoft Training?

In-house

One company, one group of 2–50 pax, at your premises or a venue you choose. Exercises use your own spreadsheets, reports and Microsoft 365 tenant. HRDF claimable up to RM10,500/day/group for a full day per group.

Public class

Buy seats for one or two people in a scheduled class run by a training provider. Priced per participant and useful when you do not have a full group.

Remote online (live)

A trainer-led session over Teams or Zoom. Suited to software training, since every participant works on their own screen, and it removes travel for teams spread across states.

Funding rules for each format are on the HRDF in-house training and HRDF claimable rates pages.

Microsoft Training in Sabah and Sarawak

Few Microsoft specialist providers are based in East Malaysia. We arrange in-house sessions on-site instead, so your team does not have to fly to Kuala Lumpur.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Microsoft training courses are available in Malaysia?

Corporate Microsoft training in Malaysia covers Excel (basic, advanced, Power Query and VBA), Power BI, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint, PowerPoint, Power Automate, Power Apps, Microsoft Project and Azure cloud. Most employers train in-house so the course uses their own data and systems.

Is Microsoft training HRDF claimable?

Yes, when it is delivered by an HRD Corp-registered training provider to an employer that contributes the HRDF levy. In-house sessions are claimable for 2–50 pax, capped at RM10,500/day/group for a full day per group. Government agencies do not pay the levy, so their training is funded from department allocations instead.

How much does Microsoft training cost in Malaysia?

Providers quote in-house training per group and public classes per participant, so the price depends on topic, duration and headcount. For an HRDF-claimable in-house session, the useful ceiling to plan against is RM10,500/day/group for a full day or RM6,000/half-day/group for a half day. Request quotes to compare what providers actually charge for your group.

Is Microsoft 365 training the same as Microsoft Office training?

Largely, yes. Microsoft renamed Office 365 to Microsoft 365, so the same Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams skills are covered. Microsoft 365 training usually adds the cloud features — OneDrive, SharePoint, co-authoring and Copilot — that the old desktop Office courses did not.

Do you offer Microsoft certification (MOS, PL-300, AZ-900)?

Providers in the directory list exam-preparation courses for Power BI Data Analyst (PL-300) and Azure Fundamentals, Data Fundamentals and Administrator (AZ-900, DP-900, AZ-104). For Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS), name the exam in your quote request and we will look for a provider who prepares candidates for it. The certification exam itself is booked separately through Microsoft's exam provider.

Can Microsoft training be delivered in Sabah and Sarawak?

Yes. We arrange in-house Microsoft training on-site across East Malaysia, including Kuching, Miri, Sibu, Bintulu, Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan and Tawau. See the Sarawak and Sabah pages for details.
