Microsoft Training Sabah (2026): In-House Excel, Power BI & Copilot in Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan
On-site Microsoft training for companies, GLCs and agencies in Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tawau, Lahad Datu. We bring the trainer to you — your team does not fly to Kuala Lumpur.
Yes, Microsoft Excel, Power BI and Microsoft 365 Copilot training can run in-house in Kota Kinabalu and across Sabah. Tell us the topic and group size and we arrange the trainer. For HRD Corp-registered employers it is HRDF claimable for 2–50 pax, up to RM10,500/day/group for a full day per group. Government agencies pay from their department training allocation instead.
Why In-House Microsoft Training in Sabah
Few Microsoft specialist training providers are based in Sabah, which leaves employers in Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan and Tawau choosing between flying staff to a public class in Kuala Lumpur and bringing the trainer to them. In-house delivery is the second option: the whole team trains together on-site, and the course uses your own spreadsheets and reports instead of generic exercises.
The trainer's travel is claimable too. HRD Corp's Allowable Cost Matrix lets employers claim airfare at the actual rate for external trainers from other towns, plus a trainer allowance at the trainee rate — up to RM500/pax/day for 100km or more, which any flight between the Peninsula and Sabah clears. Both are claimed separately from the course fee, so ask for trainer fees, airfare and allowance to be itemised on the quote; your e-TRiS application needs that split. Microsoft Training Sabah — FAQs
Can you run Microsoft Excel training on-site in Kota Kinabalu?
Yes. Tell us your topic, group size and preferred dates, and we arrange a trainer to deliver the session at your premises or a venue in Kota Kinabalu. The same applies to Sandakan, Tawau and Lahad Datu.
Is Microsoft training for government agencies HRDF claimable?
No. Civil servants in federal and state government agencies do not contribute the HRDF levy, so agency training is paid from the department's own training allocation rather than claimed from HRD Corp. Government-linked companies and private employers registered with HRD Corp are different: they can claim in-house Microsoft training through e-TRiS, up to RM10,500/day/group for a full-day in-house session. Statutory bodies vary, so check your organisation's levy status first.
How many participants do we need for in-house Microsoft training?
HRD Corp funds in-house training for 2–50 pax, for a minimum of four hours. The claimable course fee is capped per group, not per person, at RM10,500/day/group for a full day and RM6,000/half-day/group for a half day.
Is it cheaper to send staff to a public class in Kuala Lumpur?
Usually not once there are more than a few people. A public class is priced per participant, and flights, hotel and days away from work are added for every person you send. In-house pricing is per group, so the cost per person falls as the group grows, and nobody has to travel.
Can the training be conducted in Bahasa Melayu?
Yes. Mention it when you request a quote so the trainer is matched for Bahasa Melayu delivery. The software menus stay in English, so the usual arrangement is Bahasa Melayu explanation over English screens.
