Is Team Building HRDF Claimable in 2026?

Yes — team building IS HRDF claimable, provided it has defined learning objectives, a TTT-certified trainer, and is delivered by an HRD Corp registered provider.

The Golden Rule

If the team building has a training curriculum + learning outcomes + qualified trainer, it is claimable. If it is purely recreational with no structured training element, it is not.

What Team Building Activities Are HRDF Claimable

Leadership & Management Development

Programmes with structured leadership content, facilitated by a TTT-certified trainer. Includes Situational Leadership, DiSC profiles, Myers-Briggs workshops.

Communication & Collaboration Workshops

Effective communication, conflict resolution, cross-cultural communication — with defined learning outcomes and assessments.

Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking

Design thinking workshops, innovation sprints, decision-making programmes with measurable competency outcomes.

Outbound Training with Learning Objectives

Physical activities (high ropes, orienteering) that are structured around team dynamics, trust-building, and documented with a training outline.

Change Management Programmes

Organisational change readiness, ADKAR methodology programmes delivered by registered providers.

Virtual Team Building (Online)

Virtual collaboration workshops, remote team effectiveness programmes — eligible since 2020 HRD Corp policy update.

What Is NOT HRDF Claimable

  • Company dinners, lunches, or social events
  • Tourism or sightseeing trips with no training component
  • Recreational activities (bowling, karaoke, paintball) without structured learning
  • Programmes by unregistered providers
  • Activities for non-Malaysian participants only
  • Events with no qualified TTT-certified facilitator
  • Sports days or fitness challenges with no training objectives
